The Sundress
A pop of coral, an easy silhouette, and the kind of dress that makes summer dressing feel effortless.
Shop This LookI want pieces in my suitcase that can carry an entire look without requiring much thought. This sundress does exactly that. The color brings energy to the softer neutrals and coastal tones throughout the capsule, while the fluid silhouette keeps it relaxed enough for the island.
It is also a reminder that capsule packing does not have to mean packing only neutrals. One beautiful statement color can make an otherwise restrained wardrobe feel completely different.
The Look
The coral floral print is the focal point, so the rest of the styling can stay simple. The flowing silhouette keeps the dress feminine and relaxed, while the print gives it enough presence that it never feels basic.
This is the kind of piece I want on vacation: put it on, add a few thoughtful accessories, and the outfit is finished.
Rather than matching every accessory back to the coral, I would let the dress stand on its own and introduce contrast through the finishing pieces. It keeps the look polished without becoming overly coordinated.
For Work
For a work-from-home meeting, layer the Self-Portrait cream embellished tweed jacket over the dress.
From the waist up, the structured tweed completely changes the impression of the look. The cream softens the coral print while the embellishment adds polish and dimension, creating something that feels intentional and elevated on camera.
When the meeting ends, take off the jacket and you are immediately back to an effortless Hilton Head sundress.
One jacket transforms the dress without requiring an entirely separate work outfit in the suitcase.
Capsule Variation
Layer the Zimmermann knit top over the floral sundress.
Covering the bodice allows the lower half of the dress to read as a flowing printed skirt, creating the appearance of two separate pieces. The knit introduces a new texture against the fluid fabric and quiets some of the print, giving the dress an entirely different personality.
It is one of my favorite capsule tricks: instead of asking how many outfits I can pack, I ask how many outfits I can create from what I already packed.
One dress. Two silhouettes. More room in the suitcase.
